• The aim

NEEED has made a successful effort building schools. Our objective is to build primary schools in villages where none exist. In addition to building primary schools, our goal is to establish secondary schools, so that students who have finished primary school can receive qualified education.

  • The measures taken

Thanks to the support of UNICEF, the UN child welfare association, NEEED was able to erect a three class primary school in TONGMENE in the year 2002. Pictures can be found here.

Furthermore NEEED opened a secondary school for girls in Ouighuiya in the year 2005 thanks to a generous donation of € 60, 000 from the Stern Stewart Foundation (Munich).
With this project we would like to offer variety of degree course schemes and a better study conditions for girls who have finished primary education. Only girls that are part of our various activities such as sponsorships, sheep breeding etc. will be supported.
After another four years of further studies, the students have the possibility to get a secure job as a nurse, midwife, primary school teacher, secretary, or as an office employee.

    4) bathrooms

    5) Well for drinking water

    7) Palings surrounding the high school

  • Who finances the project and how high are the costs

The financial means for the construction of the primary schools were provided by the UNO - child welfare association: UNICEF. The costs for the construction amounted to € 23,000 or $ 30,000. The money for the construction of the girls high school was provided by Stern Steward Foundation in Munich and amounted to € 60, 000 or $ 90,000. The € 10,000 or $ 15,000 were donanted by Mrs. Mary CALAS (U.S.A) to construct a school well.

  • Perspectives

    Our plans for 2005 - 2007:

    8) Construction of a canteen big enough for 100 children

    9) Construction of a boarding school big enough for 100 children

In order that children who's way to school is over 30km, have the chance to go to high school which would be impossible due to the bad traffic system.

Unfortunatley we do not have to finacial means. Nevertheless we hope to receive the necessary money to enable high school for children from regions at disadvantage.

  • The costs to build a boarding school, a canteen and to run the canteen

    Estimated costs:

    • Costs for the construction of the boarding school and canteen: € 11,330
    • Costs for the purchase of matresses and beds: € 6,500
    • Yearly costs for running the canteen: € 8,000
